I Asked the I Ching… and Got “Qian Wei Tian”
Within many branches of Christianity, there has long been a strong atmosphere surrounding astrology and divination:
“Fortune-telling is forbidden.”
“Astrology opposes God.”
“Occult practices are dangerous.”
Indeed, the Old Testament contains warnings against:
- divination
- sorcery
- astrology
- communicating with spirits
and similar practices.
Yet at the same time, the Bible contains one extremely strange contradiction.
Yes…
The Three Wise Men from the East.
According to the Gospel story, the very first people to recognize the birth of Jesus Christ were not Jewish priests, nor Roman rulers.
They were:
“men who read the stars.”
Historically, the “Magi” are often interpreted as:
- Persian priest-astrologers
- astronomers
- star readers
And what did they say?
“We saw His star in the East.”
Which basically sounds like:
“Yeah… we used astrology.”
So naturally, one begins to wonder:
Did God truly hate astrology?
Or is something deeper going on here?
So I Decided to Ask the I Ching
Using the traditional Plum Blossom Numerology method (梅花心易), I performed a divination on the question:
“Does God truly reject astrology?”
Date used:
May 28, 2026 — 13:16
The Resulting Hexagram
Primary Hexagram:
Qian Wei Tian (乾為天)
“The Creative Heaven”
Changing Hexagram:
Huo Tian Da You (火天大有)
“Great Possession”
And honestly…
This result was astonishing.
What Does “Qian Wei Tian” Mean?
Qian Wei Tian is one of the most powerful hexagrams in the entire I Ching.
It symbolizes:
- Heaven
- Cosmic Law
- Divine Order
- Creation itself
- Supreme Intelligence
- Universal structure
In other words:
The divination did not begin by discussing “good vs evil fortune-telling.”
Instead…
it immediately pointed toward the structure of the universe itself.
That is extremely important.
The Hexagram’s Core Message
Surprisingly, the reading did not condemn astrology itself.
Actually, quite the opposite.
Qian Wei Tian strongly suggests:
“The movements of heaven are part of divine law.”
Think about it:
- The moon affects tides.
- The sun affects biological rhythms.
- Seasons affect mental states.
- Gravity shapes all physical existence.
So is it truly absurd to think celestial movements may also influence human life?
Not necessarily.
And this may explain why systems like Vedic astrology can sometimes feel eerily accurate.
Then Why Do Religions Fear Astrology?
This is where the reading became fascinating.
The changing line was the 5th line of Qian.
Its symbolism is often translated as:
“The flying dragon is in Heaven.”
This line represents:
the danger of humans attempting to wield heavenly power improperly.
And here lies the real distinction.
The hexagram is not saying:
“Do not observe the stars.”
It is warning:
“Do not become enslaved by them.”
That is a completely different message.
When Astrology Becomes Dangerous
For example:
- “Saturn is bad, so my life is doomed.”
- “My chart guarantees suffering.”
- “My destiny cannot change.”
At that point:
the stars replace God.
And that is what many religious traditions instinctively reject.
The issue is not observation.
The issue is surrendering ultimate authority to fate.
The Three Wise Men Problem
This is what makes the biblical narrative so interesting.
The Bible itself portrays:
“men guided by the stars”
as noble seekers who recognized the arrival of Christ.
Which means:
Scripture does not completely reject celestial signs.
That’s a major contradiction — unless the distinction is this:
The problem is not:
reading the heavens.
The problem is:
worshipping the heavens.
The Final Meaning of the Reading
The transformation into “Great Possession” (Da You) is important.
This hexagram symbolizes:
- divine abundance
- heavenly light
- wisdom
- rightful stewardship
So the final conclusion of this divination was remarkably balanced:
Astrology may be a tool for reading cosmic patterns.
But:
it is not meant to become an absolute god over human consciousness.
My Personal Impression
What struck me most was this:
The hexagram completely transcended ordinary religious arguments.
It moved toward a much deeper question:
“What is the relationship between cosmic law and God?”
And the answer it seemed to give was profound:
