— Meihua Xin-Yi on Pleasure, Awareness, and the Edge of Awakening

Prologue｜Why Do Humans Seek Altered States?

Since ancient times, humanity has sought to alter consciousness.
Wine became the symbol of divine covenant,
tobacco the breath of warriors and shamans,
and sacred herbs the key to mystical vision.

But are these truly gates to awakening — or anesthetics for the soul?

According to Meihua Xin-Yi divination, the hexagram reveals:

Hexagram 63 – Water over Fire (Already Fording):
“Completion is not the end — fulfillment is transient.”

Pleasure offers a temporary sense of wholeness but never true integration.
Every intoxication, however divine, is merely a rented paradise.

I｜Alcohol — The Double-Edged Chalice

In scripture, Jesus raised wine at the Last Supper;
in Buddhism, monks vowed abstinence.
The symbol of alcohol in Meihua Xin-Yi reads:

Hexagram 37 – Wind over Fire (Family):
“When the home is in harmony, the flame brings light.”

When used with gratitude and purpose,
wine becomes a bridge to the divine — a liquid prayer.
But when used to escape reality,
it transforms into a fog that dulls the spirit.

✅ One cup for communion is holy.
❌ One cup for forgetfulness is corruption.

II｜Tobacco — The Ritual of Fire and Wind

Tobacco once symbolized fire (Spirit) and wind (Breath).
Native shamans offered smoke to the heavens as prayer.
The hexagram speaks:

Hexagram 50 – Fire over Wind (The Cauldron):
“Renew the old, and fill with the new.”

Used consciously, smoking can represent a meditative ritual of release —
the act of exhaling one’s burdens to the sky.
Yet modern addiction has reversed this sacred purpose:
the individual no longer smokes — the habit smokes the soul.

Spiritually, tobacco contaminates the lungs,
the very channel through which pranic life circulates.
It becomes a breach in the temple of breath.

III｜Drugs — Do They Reveal God or Merely Illusion?

From India’s Soma to South America’s Ayahuasca,
humanity has always sought heaven in a cup.
Meihua Xin-Yi reveals:

Hexagram 34 – Thunder over Heaven (Great Power):
“Strength must serve purpose.”

Drugs can temporarily open the gate of perception —
but without mastery, the door may never close again.
True awakening comes not from chemistry,
but from the refinement of awareness itself.

“Illumination gained through silence lasts;
illumination gained through chemicals fades.”

IV｜Do Higher Beings Have Pleasure or Intoxication?

Surprisingly, the answer is yes — but not physical.

Hexagram 42 – Wind over Thunder (Increase):
“Heaven and Earth exchange breath for mutual benefit.”

Higher entities “drink” light, “inhale” fragrance, and “taste” vibration.
Their pleasure is resonance itself —
a communion of frequencies rather than matter.

Where humans sip wine, they sip starlight.

V｜Pleasure, Purification, and the Growth of the Soul

Humans evolve through pleasure as much as through discipline.
Asceticism is not automatically superior,
nor indulgence inherently evil.
The hexagram declares:

Hexagram 36 – Earth over Fire (Darkening of the Light):
“Even in darkness, the flame within endures.”

To transcend addiction is not to reject joy —
but to remain unshaken by it.
True mastery is not “never drinking,”
but drinking without losing oneself.

VI｜Even the Gods Feast — But They Do Not Depend

“Wine is fire, smoke is wind, and drugs are lightning.
He who governs fire, tempers wind, and commands lightning —
that one is close to Heaven.”

From the divine viewpoint, pleasure itself is neutral —
it simply mirrors your consciousness.
The sin is not the act, but the vibration behind it.

The awakened soul can transform any indulgence into meditation;
the unawakened turns the same act into bondage.

Which are you becoming — the alchemist, or the addict?

🌕 Meihua Xin-Yi Verdict

The highest intoxication is breath itself.
Meditation and natural joy are the ultimate elixirs of Heaven.
