Not wrongdoing — but the first experience of separation.
Prologue|Where the misunderstanding began
Christian tradition often frames Original Sin as:
“The first disobedience.
Humanity’s fall.
A moral failure.”
But the oldest layers of the symbol say something very different.
Original Sin was not a crime.
It was a shift in perception.
Original Sin = The moment human consciousness perceived itself as separate.
The moment “I” was born.
1|Eden = Pre-Self Consciousness (Non-Duality)
Eden was not a garden.
It was a state of undivided awareness, where:
- There was no “me” and “world”
- No observer and observed
- No boundary inside or outside
It was consciousness before identity.
A state of oneness so seamless
that there was no one to notice it.
2|The “Fruit” Was the Capacity for Duality
The “Tree of Knowledge” granted not information —
but differentiation.
It activated the ability to perceive:
- good vs evil
- right vs wrong
- self vs other
This is the moment:
The world became “object,”
and the perceiver became “subject.”
The moment the human being said:
“This is me — and that is not me.”
That moment is Original Sin.
Not because it was wrong —
but because it was separate.
3|Separation Creates Longing — and the Human Story Begins
Once the Self is born, so is:
- fear
- desire
- loneliness
- yearning
We feel incomplete
because we once knew wholeness.
This longing is not a punishment.
It is the engine of growth.
Without separation, there is no journey.
Without distance, there is no return.
Without forgetting, there is no remembering.
**4|Meihua Yi Hexagram: Water over Water — Kǎn (坎)
Descent into the Self**
Kǎn represents:
- depth
- the inner well
- falling into oneself
- the unknown inside
This hexagram reveals:
Separation is not failure — it is descent into selfhood.
We leave unity
in order to become conscious of unity.
This is not fall.
It is initiation.
5|Original Sin = The Birth of Love
Why?
Because love can only exist
when there are two
who are secretly one.
Love is the impulse to return.
Meaning:
Original Sin is not the loss of God.
It is the beginning of the path back to God.
A circle cannot begin without a point of departure.
Conclusion|Original Sin Is the First Page of the Return Home
You did not fall.
You separated.
So that you could:
- Search
- Learn
- Feel
- Break
- Long
- Heal
- And remember
That you were never truly separate.
Original Sin is not the fall of humanity.
It is the moment humanity began its homecoming.
