— Astrology as a “Map of Destiny”
At this point, we have arrived at a fundamental premise:
Life has a structure.
But not all of it is fixed.
So what exactly is that structure?
The system that illustrates it most clearly is astrology.
■ Does Astrology Actually “Work”?
When people hear the word astrology, they often think:
- Fortune-telling
- Unscientific
- Vague and unreliable
And to be fair, much of what passes as “astrology” today is vague—
filled with statements that could apply to almost anyone.
But true astrology is something entirely different.
Astrology is
data that describes an individual’s underlying structure.
■ What Is Imprinted at Birth
The foundation of astrology is surprisingly simple:
the configuration of the cosmos at the moment of birth.
From this, it is said that the following can be inferred:
- Patterns of thought
- Behavioral tendencies
- Strengths and weaknesses
- The overall flow of life
At first glance, this may seem irrational.
But if you think about it calmly, it isn’t so strange.
Just as the human body is shaped by:
- Genetics
- Environment
- Hormonal balance
it is only natural to consider that
the cosmic environment at the moment of birth
may also exert some form of influence.
■ Convergence Across Different Systems
There are many systems of astrology:
- Vedic Astrology
- Western Astrology
- Four Pillars of Destiny
- Zi Wei Dou Shu
Each has its own theory and calculation methods.
Yet interestingly—
they often arrive at similar conclusions.
For example:
- A person may struggle with relationships
- A certain period may bring a decline in fortune
- A specific field may suit someone naturally
These patterns can appear consistently
across entirely different systems.
What does this imply?
■ Astrology as a “Map”
The fact that different systems converge suggests something profound:
there is a shared underlying structure to reality.
Here is a key metaphor:
Astrology is a map.
A map is not reality itself.
But it is indispensable for understanding:
- Where the mountains are
- Where the rivers flow
- Where the paths exist
In the same way, astrology is:
a tool for visualizing the terrain of life.
■ Moving Without a Map
What happens if you move forward without a map?
- You take unnecessary detours
- You enter dangerous territory
- You fail to reach places you could have reached
This applies just as much to life.
To move forward without understanding your own structure
is the same as traveling without a map.
■ But a Map Has Its Limits
Now we return to a critical point:
A map can be read—
but it cannot be changed.
No matter how accurate it is:
- A mountain remains a mountain
- A river remains a river
Which means:
Astrology explains—but it does not transform.
This is the same structural limitation
we saw in karma theory in Chapter 2.
■ And Yet, Astrology Is Essential
So is astrology meaningless?
The answer is no.
In fact, it is indispensable.
Because:
you cannot adjust what you cannot see.
- What is strong?
- What is weak?
- Where is the distortion?
Without this awareness,
no meaningful adjustment is possible.
■ The Idea of Quantification
Now we move to the next step.
Astrology is a map—
but traditionally, it remains symbolic and descriptive.
What happens if we take it one step further?
Quantification.
What if:
- The strength of the Sun could be measured
- The weakness of the Moon could be quantified
- The overall balance of a life could be expressed numerically
Then the targets for adjustment become visible.
■ Moving to the Next Chapter
At this point, we have established:
- Astrology is a map
- A map alone cannot change reality
- But a map is essential
In the next chapter, we explore a crucial question:
“Can destiny be quantified?”
From here, we move beyond abstraction—
and step into a domain where reality can be actively adjusted.
